01 / Advisory

Independent advice.
At the point it matters.

When a proposal, project or transition needs careful challenge, I help you understand the exposure, test the assumptions and decide what should happen next.

AI & automation
transition

Understand what an AI-enabled upgrade or automation migration will change before you commit.

  • Challenge vendor assumptions
  • Assess data and integration readiness
  • Identify operational dependencies
The outcomeA written assessment of the risks and decisions ahead.

Independent
project review

Bring an experienced outside perspective to a project when its direction, risks or readiness need scrutiny.

  • Review the available evidence
  • Hear engineering and operational concerns
  • Make unresolved risks visible
The outcomeA concise briefing to support the next decision.

Governance &
decision support

Make responsibilities, operational boundaries and acceptance criteria clear enough to act on.

  • Define evidence for decision gates
  • Clarify authority and accountability
  • Connect technical risk to board oversight
The outcomeA practical basis for informed approval and oversight.

02 / Experience & approach

The physical world
sets the terms.

My starting point is the process, the people and the consequences of getting a decision wrong.

With a degree in physics and more than four decades of experience in industrial control systems, I bring an engineering perspective to the questions now facing boards and technical leaders.

My background spans programmable logic controllers (PLCs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), industrial communications and continuous process environments. That experience informs how I assess AI, cyber risk and changes to automation architecture.

What guides the work

Understand the process

Start with how the plant actually operates, including its constraints, dependencies and failure modes.

Protect the essentials

Keep safety, availability and predictable control behaviour central to every technology decision.

Make the reasoning clear

Separate evidence from assumptions. Identify who decides, what authority a system has and where human judgement remains essential.

Start a conversation

A consequential decision
deserves a clear perspective.

If you are considering an AI or automation change, or need an independent view of an existing project, let’s talk.
